VirtuGO is lead by former pro-cyclist, Michael Rogers (CEO). His goal is to bring the joy of cycling to all, regardless of their level and to provide them with easy access to targeted world-class, science-based coaching to help them reach their individual personal health and fitness goals.

VirtuGO positions itself at the intersection between the virtual world experience and the demand for credible high-quality health and fitness coaching. Together with Daniel Healey, former Sports Scientist for Team BMC and Tinkoff-Saxo, Michael Rogers aims to bring the knowledge and science from 20 years professional cycling available to everybody.

 

From the outset, VirtuGO has three virtual worlds for users to choose from. The well-known Mallorca climb; Coll de Soller, Willunga Hill; known from Tour Down Under as well as a virtual world, called Pulseville. Additionally, more than 100 training sessions, as well as a large number of customized training plans can be found within VirtuGO.

 

For those who want to target training on improving their cycling fitness, there will be no better way to reach their goals in the shortest most effective way possible.

The People

VirtuGO was started by three World Tour cycling professionals who have trained, competed and won at the highest level of cycling. They wanted to bring the confidence of pro cycling to all levels of riders. And they wanted to help cyclists across the globe get better and faster with a new virtual cycling experience.

No matter at what level, cyclists share one thing in common - they want to train effectively and efficiently. That's why we focus our efforts on training smart because hard work alone isn’t enough to reach your cycling potential. We'll do this with our platform and world-tour tested training programs to give you the most effective and efficient training solution for cyclists.

To us, professional cycling offers a valuable testing ground that all cyclists can benefit from. Giving you the confidence that you are working with the best. At VirtuGO that means taking performance elements that have shown to be effective in pro cycling and incorporating them into our virtual indoor training and coaching that makes you better and faster in your cycling.

Our team is comprised of former pro cyclist and World Tour team owner Bjarne Riis, angel investor and former CEO of Saxo Bank Lars Seier Christensen, CEO Michael Rogers – a three-time World Time Trial champion and Tour de France stage winner— and seasoned Sports Scientist Daniel Healey.


Michael Rogers

VirtuGO CEO Michael Rogers is a retired Australian professional road bicycle racer who competed professionally between 1999 and 2016, for the Mapei–Quick-Step, Quick-Step–Innergetic, Team HTC–Columbia, Team Sky and Tinkoff teams.


He is a three-time World Time Trial Champion, winning consecutively in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and won Grand Tour stages at the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia.

Daniel Healey

VirtuGO Head of Sportscience Daniel Healey is an Exercise Physiologist and Sports Nutritionist with wide experience across the International High Performance Sport Network. During the London Olympic cycle he was Director of Sports Nutrition at High Performance Sport New Zealand. In this role Daniel lead a team of specialist Nutritionists and Dietitians that serviced over 500 Olympic level athletes in all sports across the North and South island.


In 2013 he accepted the role of Head Sports Scientist at the BMC Professional Cycling Team. The success of BMC created an opportunity for Daniel to work with internationally renowned cycling team manager Bjarne Riis and from 2014-2015 Daniel was Head of Sports Science at Tinkoff-Saxo Professional Cycling Team. In 2015 Tinkoff-Saxo were victorious at the Giro d’Italia and numerous other one day races.


Daniel holds a Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) and Masters of Sports Science from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He currently resides in Freiburg, Germany.

Bjarne Riis

VirtuGO investor Bjarne Riis is a former professional road bicycle racer who placed first in the 1996 Tour de France.


For many years he was the owner and later manager of UCI WorldTeam Tinkoff–Saxo.


Other career highlights include placing first in the Amstel Gold Race in 1997, multiple Danish National Championships, and stage wins in the Giro d'Italia.
